2. Identity Theft

Using someone else’s Aadhaar, PAN card, photos, or personal details without permission.

Section 66C
Punishment: Up to 3 years jail + fine

3. Cyber Bullying & Online Harassment

Using abusive words, threats, trolling, or blackmail.

Indian Law:
Section 67 IT Act
Punishment: Up to 3 years imprisonment + fine

4. Hacking

Breaking into someone’s computer or phone without permission.

Indian Law:
Section 66
Punishment: Up to 3 years imprisonment + ₹5 lakh fine

5. Online Financial Fraud

Fake UPI links, ATM skimming, credit card scams, fake shopping websites.

Indian Law:
Section 420 IPC
Punishment: Up to 7 years imprisonment

6. Cyber Stalking

Tracking someone’s online activity or location without permission.

Indian Law:
Section 354D IPC
Punishment: Up to 3 years (first offence)

7. Ransomware

Data locked by hackers demanding money for decryption.

8. Social Media Account Hacking

Stealing passwords through fake login pages or phishing.

How to Protect Yourself – Cyber Security Safety Tips

Password & Account Safety

  • Use strong passwords (mix numbers, symbols & letters)

  • Enable Two-Factor Authentication

Change passwords regularly

Don’t Click Unknown Links

  • Check website starts with https://

  • Do not open fake offers or lottery links

App & Device Security

  • Install apps only from Play Store / App Store

  • Update phone software regularly

Avoid giving unwanted app permissions
